In recent years, electric vehicle development has reached new heights, with brands such as Lucid Motors and Rivian finding new ways to extract the most out of their electric powertrains. While electric cars have caught up in the industry in terms of performance and overall range, there are still a fair few barriers that prevent them from becoming even more mainstream.
Enter Nyobolt, a startup brand founded in 2019 by Dr Kent Griffith, Dr Sai Shivareddy, and Professor Dame Clare Grey. After years of development in the U.S. and the U.K., the company unveiled its prototype sports car at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed, showcasing its cutting-edge battery pack that aims to significantly reduce charging times.
Fast-forward one year, and Nyobolt has officially unveiled its prototype EV in the first live demonstration, captivating the entire EV industry. Partnering up with companies such as CALLUM, Nyobolt’s small yet mightily impressive battery has the chance to remove the remaining reasons that turn buyers away from electric cars as a whole.
Despite the super-fast battery pack being the highlight of Nyobolt’s prototype, its capable performance, considering how little it weighs, is something that can’t be glossed over. The design of the prototype might seem overly familiar, as the person who designed the prototype was behind the design of the Lotus Elise. Instead of trying to place their battery pack inside an existing car, the team designed the Elise-esque shell around the pack to keep it lightweight and as effective as possible.
